I admit at first I was a bit dubious about hiring the services of a personal trainer.  Having never been sporty or keen on exercise, it was pure pre-wedding vanity that made me consider the benefits of training.  But after only a few sessions with Sam, I was convinced.  She devised a training programme specific to me, gave me the right encouragement and motivation and regularly changed the programme to keep me interested.

During my time with Sam my body has changed and so has my attitude to exercise.  I positively look forward to my appointments with Sam; she’s demystified the gym for me.  I used to walk into the gym and feel like a fake, like I didn’t belong there, but Sam has taught me such a range of techniques that when I’m in the gym now, I hold my head high because I know exactly what to do.

When I started my sessions with Sam at the beginning of the year I had not done any serious regular exercise for at least a year.  This was partly due to a condition from which I suffer, which has meant over the years my mobility and flexibility had decreased substantially, and meant I would suffer from periods of pain in my lower back, shoulders and hips, which restricted me a lot.

I must admit, I was slightly sceptical about what I could achieve. But thanks to the programme of exercises Sam has set out for me; my mobility, flexibility and overall fitness has improved more than I could have imagined in a matter of months. Sam has periodically changed my programme to keep me both challenged and motivated.

Thanks to her guidance I now look forward to the gym sessions as well as maintaining and increasing my new found flexibility and fitness. My general day-to-day quality of life has also improved.  I would not hesitate to recommend booking sessions with a personal trainer to get the most out of the gym.

Training with Sam has changed my thinking from ‘I can’t do’ to ‘I can’, proving that at the age of 51 you are not too old to start enjoying exercise. I thought Sam was joking on my first session when she said I would be running on the treadmill within two weeks…she wasn’t, and I am now aiming to do a 5k run Sam encourages you to try that extra bit harder to reach the goals she sets for you. I used to think the gym would be scary but Sam has helped me to enjoy the environment.

I’ve been training with Samia since joining the gym last year. She’s always cheerful, patient and gives me a boost when I need motivating.

Whilst Samia has been my Personal Trainer I’ve really learnt a lot about how to exercise properly, have become so much more confident and am enjoying the compliments I get about how my shape has changed. I enjoy the sessions because I get individual attention and given exercises that suit my needs.
